The Knockalla Caravans Cup swung into action last night with the first of the first round ties played at Maginn Park in Buncrana.
Derry City Reserves of the Ulster Senior League hosted Aileach FC and the Inishowen league side took their opponents all the way to penalties – only to lose out on spot kicks.
The tie finished 2-2 after 90 minutes and extra time – Rory Holden and Ciaran Harkin with the goals for Derry and Anthony Shivey and Ciaran Craig scoring for Aileach.
But Derry held their nerve to win 3-0 on penalties to progress to the quarter final
