Around 40 percent of customers of Irish Water are beating the meter.
Almost 750 thousand water meters have been installed so far across the country, and the utility says it’s on track to finish its metering programme by the middle of next year.
While charges are capped at the moment, metered households that are conserving water are getting lower bills.
