Swift action must be taken to investigate human trafficking in fishing industry – Harkin

Plans for a multi-agency task force to investigate human trafficking in the fishing industry has been met with some criticism.
A year-long investigation by the Guardian newspaper has uncovered widespread abuse of migrant workers on Irish fishing trawlers.
Currently, Donegal accounts for over a quarter of the overall fishing industry jobs in the country.
Independent MEP Marion Harkin says Minister Coveney’s approach to the investigation lacks urgency to deal with the situation.
She says swift action on this serious issue must be taken:
