Ballybofey’s Johnny Dunleavy signs 2 year contract with Cork City

Johnny DunleavyDunleavy, the club captain, has made ninety-eight league appearances for the club since joining in 2012.
He told CorkCityFC.ie that he feels the future is bright on Leeside: “I am delighted to have signed another contract with the club. Everyone can see the progress the club is making and it is more than going in the right direction.”
“Last season was a bit up and down for me with injuries, but I tended to get back in time for some of the big games which I was happy with. Playing in Europe was an amazing experience and something that we all worked very hard for, so we can’t wait to get back there next year. We were very close to silverware this season, so we will be aiming for that next year and I have no doubt that we will be pushing at all levels again.”
“I think things are shaping up well for next year. I think we are going to have a strong squad and bringing in fellas with the pedigree of Greg Bolger and Kenny Browne shows where we are going. I have no doubt that John has a few tricks up his sleeve yet and we will be challenging on all fronts. A club this size has to be challenging for every competition that you enter and we will be going into every competition next season looking to win it, and hopefully we can pick up some silverware.”
City manager John Caulfield said he was pleased to see the Donegal native extend his stay with the club:
“I am very pleased that Johnny has agreed a new deal with the club. While he has been a bit unlucky with injury this season, he is an important player for us and has done very well in a number of positions for us this season. He is a real leader within the group and his passion for the club is evident to the supporters. I believe he has grown into the captaincy and that his best days in a Cork City shirt are ahead of him.”
