Derry security alert ongoing after suspicious object is found on Strand Road

A security alert is continuing on Strand Road in Derry this morning.
Police have not released details, but DUP MLA Gary Middleton says he believes a suspicious object has been placed in a hijacked vehicle and parked close to the PSNI station.
The alert in Derry began shortly before 11 o’clock last night, just a few hours after the Christmas lights were switched on in the city.
An alert close to Theipval Barracks in Lisburn last night has been declared a hoax.
