Details have emerged of a serious assault in Derry in the early hours of New Years Day.
Police in the city have confirmed they are investigating a report of a serious assault on a man in the Foyle Crescent area between 1.30 and 2am on the morning of Friday January 1st.
The man was attacked by two males in a laneway which runs beside Foyle Crescent, and sustained injuries including a fractured hand and eye socket as a result. Police at Strand Road are investigating, they can be contacted on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
