Political row brewing over funding application for Ranafast pool

Questions are being asked about how the renovation of a tidal swimming pool project in Ranafast became a priority project for Donegal County Council.
Local Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig says its a project that would not take from other council projects, and if it is to proceed, it will be with funding from Failte Ireland, Sports Capital Grants and Udaras na Gaeltachta. The proposal has been costed at over three quarter of a million euro.
However, it’s emerged the project was not discussed at area meetings, and now, Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig claims that four of the six county councillors in the Glenties Municipal District are trying to undermine the project………….

Sinn Fein Cllr Marie Therese Gallagher says her problem is she doesn’t know what the Ranafast project is.
She says other groups and bodies have made presentations and applications for similar projects, and councillors have drawn up a priority list based on their knowledge of the proposals.
In this instance, she says, that’s not the case……………..
