Fresh commitment on future of Donegal Community hospitals – McHugh

A commitment has been given by the Health Minister that the future of St Joseph’s Hospital in Stranorlar, Lifford Hospital and the Ramelton Community Nursing Unit is secure but he has failed to commit to long stay residential nursing care in the facilities.

Serious concern has been raised this week that the new €22 million Community Nursing Unit in Letterkenny to be opened in 2021 would mean the closure of the three hospitals in question.
However Minister Joe McHugh says that is not the case and has been given a firm commitment by Leo Varadkar the three hospitals will be part of the overall plan and will remain open:
