McBrine, Thompson & Young named on Ireland team for World 20/20

Three north west players have been included in the Ireland team for next month’s ICC World Twenty20 in India.
Donemana’s Andy McBrine, Eglinton’s Stuart Thompson and Bready’s Craig Young have been named in an experienced 15 man squad.
Former Bready man Boyd Rankin is also included, as is Captain William Porterfield, who is one of five players ready to embark on a fifth campaign in the biennial tournament.
Porterfield was at the helm when Ireland first competed in the T20 global showpiece in England in 2009 and along with the O’Brien brothers, Paul Stirling and Gary Wilson, he has taken part in all three subsequent events in the West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The tournament will be played from 8 March to 3 April, with Ireland facing Oman in their opening match on 9 March.
