A Donegal TD says part of the reason for the soaring waiting lists for orthodontic treatment at Letterkenny University Hospital is that some of the specialist chairs there are broken.
Deputy Charlie Mc Conalogue says after being contacted bya number of parents, he raised the issue with the Health Minister, who confirmed that a dental nurse post has been vacant for most of last year.
On top of that, he says, there are also major equipment problems, with three of the dental chairs in the department broken for months.
Deputy Mc Conalogue says the facility is under
resourced, and as a result, there are 260 children on a waiting list, 118 of them waiting more than two years…………
