Mark English set for Glasgow test

UCD’s Mark English will round out his short indoor season over 800m at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix in the Emirates Arena tomorrow (February 20th).
English set an Irish indoor best over 500m of 60.83 seconds in Stockholm on Wednesday and is in shape to break his Irish 800m indoor record of 1:46.82. Carrick on Shannon’s Gerard O’Donnell will also be competing in Glasgow in the 60m Hurdles. The meet will be televised live on BBC One from 1pm.
Ciara Mageean (UCD) competes over the mile at the Millrose Games in New York on the same day. John Travers (Donore Harriers) and John Coghlan (Metro St Brigid’s) are in the men’s invitational mile while Tori Pena (Finn Valley) competes in the pole vault.
Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrock) takes to the roads of Seville at 8am on Sunday morning with a goal of cementing his place in the marathon team at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Clohisey is currently the third fastest qualifier with a time of 2:15:35. He will be looking to run faster than Sergiu Ciobanu’s (Clonliffe Harriers) 2:15:14 and Kevin Seaward (St Malachy’s) 2:14:52.
