Oscar Traynor Cup quarter-final: Galway 1 – 2 Inishowen League
The Inishowen League will continue the defence of their Oscar Traynor Cup title in the semi-finals after a great victory on Saturday.
They beat Galway in the quarter-finals at Eamon Deasy Park and now face the Leinster Senior League.
The Inishowen side were 0-2 up at half-time, thanks to goals by Nigel McMonagle and John Gerard McLaughlin.
Galway scored at the start of the second half to make it 1-2 and set up a nervy finish for Inishowen, but they held on and delighted manager Dermot O’Brien.
He earlier told Highland Radio Sport that a great performance would not matter if they progress, but added that a good display would improve their chances.
The Inishowen League are the defending champions (pictured), having won it last May by beating the Limerick District League 2-1 at McGinn Park in Buncrana.
In the other semi-final of the inter league junior competition, Donegal North East League are away to the Clare League over the weekend of March 19 and 20.
