Simon Cowell confirms that the One Direction lads will be going solo

Simon Cowell said he’s “absolutely sure” there will be solo offerings from the One Direction boys.
Former member Zayn Malik found chart success with his first single Pillowtalk, but Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have so far not confirmed whether they’ll be using their hiatus to emulate his number one.
But asked by E Online whether there would be “any more solo projects from the boys”, Simon confirmed for them.
He replied: “Yeah, there will be more, I’m absolutely sure of that.”
And Simon promised that we’ll be hearing “lots of announcements” of their next projects in the coming months.
“Well, it (the hiatus) was always going to come. You can’t work at that level; the way they did.
“I mean, lots of things are going to be announced over the next few months, but they were, are, the nicest people, you know, to work with.
“Hard-working, appreciate everything, so it won’t be the end.”
Simon even had kind words for Zayn: “We were involved with what label he went on, and he’s still signed to our company, so, he’s done fantastic, and he’s showing that he’s a great vocalist and very talented.”
Harry, 21, sparked the first rumours of a solo career when he registered four song with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a US performer rights organisation.
Louis has been tipped to take over from Nick Grimshaw as a judge on The X Factor, while Niall has moved out of the music game and into the golf one, forming a golf talent management company.
Liam likely has his hands full juggling the press around his rumoured relationship with X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
