The telecoms regulator Comreg is being urged to put pressure on mobile phone operators to improve the service provision which they are currently offering in Donegal and elsewhere in the west and north west.
Deputy Pat The Cope Gallagher says the quality of service and availability of mobile signals has greatly deteriorated in parts of Donegal over the past year, and it’s clear the current network is neither fit for purpose, nor able to cater for the increased volume of mobile phone customers.
Deputy Gallagher wants the terms of mobile licences here to be reviewed, compelling operators to provide 100% nationwide coverage.
He says the current requirements let the operators off the hook……….
