Harps lose cup tie to Galway on penalties

Finn Harps
Finn Harps bowed out of the EA Sports Cup at the hands of Galway losing 4-2 on penalties at Eamonn Deacy Park on Monday night.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock over the course of 120 minutes of action.
Ciaran Gallagher replaced Richard Brush in the Harps goal for the cup tie and was called upon a number of times to keep the home side at bay.
When the tie went to extra time Galway pressed hard, particularly in the second period but still couldn’t find  the match winning goal.
In the shoot out, Ryan Curran and Ethan Boyle missed for Harps as Galway keeper Kevin Horgan pulled off two saves while Matthew Crossan and Tony McNamee found the net for the Ballybofey side.
The winning penalty which sent Galway to the next round came from the boot of former Harps striker Ruairi Keating.
