Crumlin Utd too strong for Letterkenny Rovers in FAI Intermediate Cup Final

FAI Intermediate Cup
In their first appearance in the FAI Intermediate Cup Final, Letterkenny Rovers lost 5-0 to Crumlin United at the Aviva stadium in Dublin on Saturday evening.
The wait for a Donegal victor goes on as Eamon Mc Conigley, a two time winner of the Intermediate Cup in 1988 and 1995 with Fanad Utd couldn’t replicate that achievement with the Leckview club
Letterkenny were comfortable in the opening stages but conceded against the run of play in a quick-fire five minutes.
Crumlin danger man Greg Moorhouse scored twice in the 15th and 20th minute to give the cup holders an early cushion.
Nine minutes into the second half the Leinster Senior League outfit all but secured back to back titles as Alan McGreal broke through the Letterkenny defence to score.
Dean Hurly came off the bench for Crumlin and scored the fourth with nine minutes left on the clock and then man of the match Moorhouse bagged his hat trick in the closing minutes to seal their fourth Intermediate Cup success since the 2008/09 season.
Letterkenny will be back in cup action again next weekend when they meet Athlone Town in the FAI Senior competition while Crumlin Utd’s next assignment will be against Finn Harps.
