A major search operation is underway  to try  and locate a light aircraft that has been missing since yesterday after taking off from the City of Derry Airport.
The microlight plane left Derry airport at approximately 11am yesterday morning and it’s understood it has two people on board.
The plane was last seen near Cushendun in Co Antrim and was bound for Scotland.
The alarm was raised yesterday evening when the aircraft failed to turn up at it’s destination and the Coastguard in Belfast, assisted by the Dublin-based Rescue 116 helicopter, was searching until dark last night
The extensive search was suspended until daylight today due to poor weather conditions last night
