Finn Valley AC athlete Sommer Lecky has become the first female athlete from Tyrone to win a senior national title in athletics.
Castlederg girl Sommer (16), who goes to school in Strabane, was the clear winner in the high jump today at the National Track and Field Championship in Santry, Dublin.
Highland Radio’s athletics correspondent Patsy McGonagle said she made history.
He added that the overall performances at Morton Stadium in Santry amounts to one of the “best ever Donegal returns from a senior athletics event”.
He expressed his delight that it has occurred at the National Track and Field Championship, which he said is the “blue ribbon” event in Ireland.
