Sir Tom Jones is in talks to reprise his coaching job on The Voice when it returns to screens on ITV next year, according to reports.
The veteran singer is said to be in “advanced negotiations” with programme bosses currently assembling a panel of stars for the spinning red chairs.
Sir Tom left the BBC’s version of the talent show last year, claiming at the time he was dropped by producers with little notice.
However he is yet to confirm if he will rejoin the programme in its new home on ITV, as he is still coming to terms with the death of his wife, Linda, in April, according to The Sun
“Tom is keen to get back on the show — something he wouldn’t have been if it was still on the Beeb rather than ITV,” a source told the newspaper.
“It’s being seen as a masterstroke to get him back as he’s worked with them all — including Elvis — and commands respect.
“The only thing that’s holding him back is whether it’s too soon after his wife’s death and whether that makes it the right decision.”
The Voice host Emma Willis welcomed the news of Sir Tom’s possible return, tweeting: “Whoop whoop! This pleases me VERY much.”
On Monday, ITV revealed US singer Will.i.am, who appeared on the programme throughout its stint on BBC One, will be among the star coaches in the upcoming series.
