Donegal athletes impress in European Youth Athletic Championships

Lifford/Strabane AC’s Brendan O’Donnell reached the final of the hammer competition in the European Youth Athletics Championships in Tbilisi today – and came a highly respectable tenth with a throw of 67.20m
Meanwhile Arlene Crossan (pictured) and Sommer Lecky of Finn Valley AC have both come through the opening round of the High Jump and 400m hurdles.
Lecky, from Castlederg,  has qualified for Sunday’s final of the High Jump.
She was actually one of nine to hit the qualifying mark of 1.78.
Crossan was second in her 400m hurdles heat in 61.76 seconds, and is into the semi-finals tomorrow.
Janine Boyle was fourth in her heats of the 200m in 24.81 and goes through to the semi-finals tomorrow as well.
