Right2Water claim expert group report may contain a “Trojan Horse”

The Green Party says the proposals on water charges will benefit everyone if they’re introduced.
Debate over the report of the expert group is continuing this morning after it recommended that water should be paid for through general taxation, with charges reserved for wasteful use.
It also suggested that public ownership of water should be more fully addressed by the Special Oireachtas Committee.
In a statement, Right2Water Donegal urge caution, and say they remain steadfast in their call for the complete abolition of water charges
The group says the reference to’ excessive or wasteful use of water’ could be viewed as a Trojan Horse, leaving the door open to the reintroduction of water charges down the line .
