GPs to be given more access to private diagnostic services

 

GPs in Donegal will be given more access to private diagnostic services under a series of measures announced last night by the HSE.
A number of enhanced measures were confirmed as part of the Winter Plan, including an additional 63 acute hospital beds, along with 60 step-down across 10 hospitals.
None of the new beds have been earmarked fo Letterkenny Hospital, but Letterkenny has been identified as one of the locations where additional diagnostic services such as Ultra-sound and X-ray will be made available to GPs, through existing private providers.
The HSE is also promising enhanced discharge processes between hospitals, community hospitals and nursing homes.
