Former Miss Ireland Aoife Walsh has had to bow out of the upcoming series of Dancing With The Stars due to a fractured toe.
Walsh’s toe injury halted her rehearsals for the dancing competition last week, with the 27-year-old due to get out of her cast just before Christmas.
Speaking about her departure from the show, Walsh said that she is “devastated to have to hang up my dancing shoes so soon, but it just wasn’t meant to be this time” but that she will be “watching and cheering on” her fellow contestants every week.
“I’m looking forward to getting better and back on both feet again very soon. For now, the dream has ended but I live my life believing that the glass is always half full and when one door closes, another always opens,” she said.
Walsh’s replacement will be announced in the coming days.
Among the stars still gearing up for the opening episode of the show, which will take place on Sunday, January 7, is Marty Morrissey, who Walsh previously said is “taking it really seriously.”
“Marty has the moves. He can shake it. He’s getting into it. He’s taking it really seriously and he’s going for it. Marty is one to watch,” Walsh said on The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene on RTÉ 2fm previously.
