Donegal’s Nora Stapleton retired from Irish Rugby this year after playing for her country 50 times. The out-half from Fahan was part of the Grand Slam-winning side in 2013 and claimed a second Six Nations medal two years later. Stapleton was also a crucial part in the Irish side that famously beat the All Blacks at the 2014 World Cup.
Joe Dunleavy made a dream start to his professional provincial career by scoring a try during his debut for an Ulster A side that defeated Scarlets Premiership Select in the opening round of the British & Irish Cup at Banbridge RFC.
Meanwhile another Letterkenny lad – Conor McMenamin -was capped for the Ireland U18s rugby team in a 29-17 win over England. Carndonagh teenager Stephen Kelly and Letterkenny’s Mia Alcorn would be capped for Ulster at underage level.
