The National Medical Card Unit has confirmed it is considering introducing an online tracking system which would allow people check at what point their application for a medical card is at, and whether more information is needed.
The issue was raised at Regional Health Forum level by Donegal Councillor Michael Mc Bride, who says staff find themselves answering dealing with questions and representations from politicians, when they could be actually processing applications.
