There have been renewed calls for the implementation of a meal voucher scheme for farmers affected by the fodder crisis.
At a local Municipal District meeting in Donegal Town last week, Councillor Michael Naughton called on Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed to provide the voucher system, saying the fodder transport scheme which has already been introduced is not working for farmers and driving the price of baled silage and hay higher.
Cllr. Naughton believes the Minister does not realise the seriousness of the situation:
