Pope promises to study Mother and Baby Homes report

Pope Francis says he will study a report on the issue of mother and baby homes.
Speaking to reporters on the papal flight to Rome last night, he said Minister for Children Katherine Zappone told him about the discovery of mass graves of children – and that the church has something to do with it.
He confirmed he has been sent a memo on the issue – but had yet to study it.
As the pope was saying mass in the Phoenix Park yesterday, a group of Inishowen and Derry based activists tied baby shoes to the railings outside St. Mary’s Oratory Buncrana and St.Eugene’s Cathedral Derry to highlight what they described as the awful crimes perpetrated on young women, babies and children by the Catholic Church.
They held signs bearing the names of areas where homes were located, including Newtowncunningham in Donegal.
The local “Baby Shoes Remember” actions were part of a series of events around the country.
