SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood says with Brexit hurtling down the tracks, too much is at stake to allow the impasse at Stormont to continue.
The Foyle MLA says a lot has been said about where the blame lies but the focus now must be on finding a solution.
He says’ as co-guarantors of the Good Friday Agreement it is the duty of both Governments on both sides of the border to take the hard issues off the table by allowing Westminster to legislate for Marriage Equality and language issues, so all parties can get back to work.
Mr Eastwood added that; with Brexit politics has now reached a defining moment and a hard Brexit cannot be thrust upon the people without a functioning Assembly to mitigate its devastating impacts.
