Over 1800 people waiting for day case appointments at LUH


Over 1800 people are currently awaiting an inpatient or day case appointment at Letterkenny University Hospital with 63 of those patients waiting over 18 months.
Nationally, there’s been a drop of 16% in the overall number of patients on waiting lists.
Latest figures from the National Treatment Purchase Fund show nationwide, the number of patients waiting for an inpatient or day case procedure now stands at 72,700, down from the peak of 86,100 in July 2017.
1899 people are currently waiting an inpatient or day patient appointment at Letterkenny University Hospital.
According to latest figures from the NTPF, 63 of those patients have been waiting over a year and a half with 45% of people on the waiting list waiting up to 3 months and 95 waiting over 12 months for an appointment.
The number of people on the waiting list as of the end of September is up slightly from the previous month but down 30% from January 2018.
842 people are awaiting an appointment for general surgery, 380 for an orthopaedic appointment and 237 patients are awaiting an appointment for the urology department at Letterkenny University Hospital.
