PSNI detectives investigating the murder of Constable Michael Ferguson in Derry in 1993 have made a fresh appeal for information on the 26th anniversary of his murder.
The 21 year old from Omagh was shot dead while on duty in Shipquay Street at around 2 o’ clock on the 23rd of January 1993.
Detectives say that a number of definite lines of enquiry are being followed in tracing those responsible for the murder of Constable Ferguson. This Wednesday (23rd) will mark the 26th anniversary of his murder.
He was attednding a call to the Richmond Centre in the city with two colleagues on the day in question, when a lone gunman wearing a distinctive green jacket approached him and shot him twice in the back of the head.
The PSNI have renewed their appeal for information to the local people of Derry who were in the area around 2pm on the day in question.
Detectives believe they’re extremely close to progressing criminal justice action against those responsible.
