Donegal County Council has been urged to take a more proactive approach in dealing with derelict buildings in the Stranorlar Municipal District.
The issue has been highlighted by the Cathaoirleach of the Stranorlar MD who says some residents are living a nightmare where derelict buildings beside them are attracting illegal dumping and vermin.
Councillor Patrick McGowan said only last week he was contacted by a local resident who has been living beside an abandoned property now for 10 years.
He says urgent action needs to be taken to clean-up the area:
