Trends beginning to show in Inishowen and Letterkenny areas

Tallies are well underway at the Aura Leisure Center in Letterkenny as ballot boxes from all over Donegal are opened.
Latests reports are that boxes from Buncrana, Carndonagh and some of Letterkenny have been opened.
It’s been suggested as tallies got underway in Inishowen that Cllr Paul Canning could top the poll.
Tallies in South Inishowen also indicate so far that Sinn Fein Candidate Terry Crossan is doing well. There is speculation at this early stage he could take a seat alongside Jack Murray.
North Inishowen tallies are expected shortly but word on ground suggests that Martin McDermott could top the poll. There are boxes yet to be opened in this area.
Meanwhile, as Letterkenny’s boxes begin to be opened early trends appear to show Fine Gael’s Bernie Moran and Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh are doing well.
All indications are subject to change as counting continues.
Catherine Gaffney has been outlining how it looks at the early stages from the point of view of South Inishowen:
