Government pulling the wool over farmer’s eyes – McConalogue


The government’s being accused of “pulling the wool over farmers eyes” in relation to the Mercosur trade deal.
Despite strong opposition from farmers here, it’ll see 99,000 tonnes of beef a year enter the EU market from South America.
An assessment of its economic impact on Ireland is due to be completed by next summer.
But Fianna Fail’s Agriculture spokesperson Charlie McConalogue says government is playing games by not publishing it sooner:
