In Donegal, Particulate matter coming from the burning of solid fuel for home heating is said to be the main cause of poor air quality as well as impacting on health through disorders of the heart and lungs.
It comes as homeowners in the Letterkenny and environs area are being reminded in peak heating season, that a ban on burning Smoky Coal is in place.
