Donegal Gardai issue warning over latest Revenue scam

Gardai in Donegal have issued a warning over yet another scam doing the rounds.
It’s after a concerned member of the public contacted them, alerting them over a message they had received which appeared to be from Revenue.
The text message was issued on St. Stephens’s day notifying the man that he was due a refund from Revenue.
When he clicked on the link contained in the message he was prompted to enter his credit/debit card details.
This was the only option open to him despite there being an option there for bank account details.
He was unable to select any option other than Credit/debit card. The man then checked with Revenue and didn’t enter any of his details when he discovered that no refund was due.
Gardai are reminding the public that revenue will never contact you and offer you a refund by text message.
They are also urging people to spread the word about this scam in case somebody falls victim to it.
They say that these scam artists are well aware that money is tight at this time of the year for most people and they are hoping that this fraudulent offer will just prove too tempting.
