Further clarity sought on upgrade works at St Joseph’s Hospital

A Lifford Councillor is seeking further clarification on yesterday’s announcement by the HSE that the €4 million upgrading and refurbishment programme at St Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar is to begin.
In the statement, the HSE says the project will include enhanced ambulance services at the community hospital.
Currently, ambulance cover for the Finn Valley is divided between Lifford Hospital and Stranorlar.
Councillor Gerry Crawford is concerned that the plans may be at the expense of Lifford Hospital and he’s demanding urgent clarity on the matter:

The National Ambulance Service says it has no plans at present to change the existing arrangements that are in place with Lifford and Stranorlar.
They say the proposed upgrade works at St Joseph’s Hospital will, when completed, enhance working facilities for ambulance services.
