Drinking fountains and water refill stations could be installed at a number of locations in the Letterkenny and Milford Municipal District on foot of a motion from Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh.
He moved a motion at a recent meeting calling for facilities to be provided in public parks, and other key areas to help reduce the use of single use plastic and reduce littering.
In December 2012, the late Dessie Larkin, then Mayor of Letterkenny, called for the provision of roadside drinking water fountains at strategic locations around the town to reflect the large number of people walking and jogging in the area.
Cllr Kavanagh says this would be a fitting memorial to him:
