Disappointment at low number of litter prosecutions in Donegal

 

There’s disappointment over a low number of litter prosecutions in Donegal.
According to figures from Donegal County Council, sixty four litter fines have been sent out in the first six months of this year while just three litter prosecutions have been issued.
This is despite an apparent significant increase in illegal dumping during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The local authority has also committed to on-going assessment of the issue in the months ahead.
But Cllr Terry Crossan believes more people need to be brought before the courts:
