Covid-19: €6.3m spent on virus battle in North West

 

The HSE has confirmed that a total of €6.3m has been spent in the North West so far, in the battle against Covid -19.
The team in the North West has also confirmed that further preparations are underway to deal with a potential second wave.
According to new figures, the response to the outbreak in the north west and reconfiguration of services cost €3.5m.
€1.7m was spent on equipment and appliances while primary care assessment hubs and testing in the region has so far cost €1.1m.
The HSE in the north west has looked to reinforce the infrastructure in preparation for a second potential wave of Covid 19.
In the absence of definitive treatment like a vaccine or proven pharmaceutical therapy, CHO 1 is following the Expert Advisory Groups advice and is looking to improve support in Public Health by enhancing the communicable disease surveillance, bolstering case management and data entry teams, utilising the new Covid tracker app, and incorporating evolving evidence into all messaging about a potential second wave to the public.
