Funding avenues to be explored for troublesome trees

 

Donegal County Council is being urged to explore funding avenues to address overgrown trees in housing estates.
Residents in a number of areas in Letterkenny are said to be worried about dangerous overhanging trees and if they will withstand another storm.
In its response, the Council says that it cuts hedges and trees on land that is under its ownership and responsibility.
But Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh says there are ways around this, and says LEADER funding options can be assessed with a view towards establishing a programme for the necessary works to be carried out:
