Pringle adds voice to calls for asylum process to be sped up

A Donegal Deputy has urged the Government to speed up the process for people seeking asylum in Ireland.

It’s emerged that someone seeking asylum in Ireland today would have to wait up to two years for a decision on their application with more than 5,000 people in direct provision awaiting a first decision.

Minister of State with Responsibility for Law Reform, James Browne told Deputy Thomas Pringle that processes are being reviewed to meet requirements.

Deputy Pringle however, told him that the real world doesn’t exist in the International Protection Office but rather with those at the core of the system:
