Government urged to call on US President to intervene in amnesty plans

There’s calls for the Irish Government to make a plea to the US President Joe Biden to intervene over the British Government’s plan to grant a de-facto amnesty for crimes committed during the Troubles.

It would apply to paramilitaries and British Army soldiers.

Last year US President Joe Biden said he would not sign a trade deal with the UK if the 1998 Peace Agreement was undermined.

Justice for the Forgotten spokesperson Margaret Urwin is pleading with the Government in Dublin to lobby President Biden on the proposed amnesty:
