Calls for cross-border standardised minimum alcohol pricing

A charity working to reduce alcohol related harms would like to see a standardised minimum price for alcohol north and south of the border.

A survey carried out by Alcohol Action Ireland says drink in Ireland is “exceptionally affordable”, with standard units of cider and beer costing less than 50c in some off-licenses.

National Lead for Community Action at the Alcohol Forum Paula Leonard says the Republic cannot wait for the North to tackle the issue:
