Efforts underway to control spread of monkeypox

The Director of Public Health HSE North West expects Ireland will see some cases of Monkeypox due to its spread across Europe.

There have been no reported cases of the disease in the country to date. However, the World Health Organisation’s revealed the number of confirmed monkeypox cases has risen to 131.

Officials also say there are another 106 suspected infections, in 19 countries.

In the UK, 57 people are known to have the viral disease.
