Time for Truth demonstrations taking place in Derry today over proposed amnesty

Victims and survivors groups of Troubles atrocities will be joining protests in Derry and Belfast today, over the British Government’s controversial Troubles amnesty bill.

Families from the Time for Truth Campaign have organised the rallies this afternoon to coincide with the second reading in the House of Commons of the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Bill, which would provide legal amnesty for perpetrators of all Troubles-related killings.

One of the organisers is John Teggart, son of the late Danny Teggart who was killed in the Ballymurphy massacre in 1971.

He says the British Government’s proposed amnesty takes away the right to justice for victims and their families…
