The Higher Education Minister has admitted the ongoing crisis in student accommodation availability won’t be resolved in time for September.
Many Donegal students have struggled to find suitable accommodation, while also those hoping to study in Donegal have been unable to secure a place to stay for September.
Simon Harris says the government is doing all it can to prevent the current issues from repeating themselves in the future.
He says ‘everything is on the table’ with regards to potential solutions, including providing modular homes on campus grounds.
Minister Harris reiterated his call for householders with a spare room to make it available to students, saying they can earn up to 14 thousand euro tax free:
