The North’s Department of Infrastructure has recommended that an that an economically viable flood alleviation scheme be progressed in Sion Mills following a feasibility study.
That’s been welcomed by local councillor Steven Edwards, who is now urging the department to expedite the process.
He says this will be a massive boost for all the residents and businesses who live in fear of further flood damage.
Cllr Edwards says if it wasn’t for the local resilience plan, more homes would have been flooded during heavy rain a number of weekends ago.
He says flooding is now almost an annual event in Sion Mills………..
