Brexit, October 31st

Physical checks on lorries crossing the Irish Sea could be reduced to just a few vehicles a day, according to the European Union’s Brexit chief.

Maros Sefcovic has told the Financial Times it would depend on whether EU officials could receive real-time data on trade movements.

The post-Brexit arrangement for customs checks, between Britain and Northern Ireland has been a major issue for the UK government – which wants to scrap the requirements.
