Wind energy sector calls for more resources in upcoming budget

Wind Energy Ireland wants to see more resources allocated to An Bord Pleanála in the budget to help speed up the delivery of offshore projects.

The industry group says the government needs to introduce supports to stream-line the application process for wind energy projects as part of Tuesday’s budget announcement.

The Climate Action Plan aims to double wind generation of electricity from 40 to 80 per cent by the end of the decade.

CEO of Wind Energy Ireland, Noel Cunniffe, says improved state-level co-ordination will be needed to achieve these ambitious targets:
