Doctor who was involved in developing Moderna awarded at The Tipp O’Neill Diaspora Awards

A Doctor who was involved in the development of the moderna vaccine says seeing the vaccine being put to use was an unbelievable feeling.

Dr Susan Whoriskey, is a pioneer in the area of vaccines, and serves as an advisor to the Clinical Translations Research and Innovation Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital, with an emphasis on scholarships for medical students in the North West.

Two years ago, she donated £100,000 sterling to support three local medical students through the new medical school at Magee.

Dr Whoriskey, who has roots in Creeslough, was awarded an award at The Tipp O’Neill Diaspora Awards for 2022 on Friday night in Buncrana.

Speaking afterwards, she says working on Moderna was challenging but to see the vaccine put in practice was an amazing feeling..
